HL7 & POCT integration consulting — remote, independent

I built hl7online.com — the free parser, validator, and AI assistant you just used — as a working demonstration of how I approach healthcare integration: privacy-first architecture, careful engineering, and AI applied where it actually helps. I'm a very senior engineer at a health AI company; this practice and this site are independent of my employer.

If your lab, hospital, or device company is fighting an interface problem, I take a small number of remote consulting engagements.

What I help with

  • HL7 v2.x interfaces — building, debugging, and modernizing lab and hospital interfaces (ORU, ADT, ORM, and the weird ones), including interface-engine work and legacy-to-API bridges.
  • POCT device integration — getting point-of-care analyzers talking to your LIS/EHR reliably, with the data quality your POCT coordinators actually need.
  • AI in lab workflows — practical, privacy-conscious AI: message triage, automated error detection, natural-language interfaces over clinical data. Including fully local/edge deployments where PHI can never leave your network.
  • Integration troubleshooting — the 2am problem: messages rejected, results not filing, interfaces silently dropping data. I find root causes.

How engagements work

  • Remote-first — screen-share sessions, async reviews, or embedded time with your team.
  • Scoped and honest — short diagnostic engagements before any bigger commitment. If your problem takes an hour, it costs an hour.
  • No lock-in — everything I build is documented and handed over. The goal is that you don't need me afterward.

Why trust me

Years of hands-on HL7 interface work for clinical laboratories and hospital information systems, current deep experience with AI in healthcare, and a public work sample you can evaluate right now: this site — client-side parser, rule-engine validator, synthetic message generator, structural diff, and a self-hosted AI assistant running on edge hardware. It's free for the community and stays that way.
