hl7online.com is operated by VimByte LLC, a Kansas LLC. By creating an account or using the AI features, you agree to these terms. Parsing HL7 messages without an account requires no agreement — it runs entirely in your browser.

What this tool is

hl7online.com is an informational tool that parses HL7 v2.x messages and provides AI-assisted answers about message content. It is designed for healthcare integration analysts, lab managers, and IT professionals who work with HL7 interfaces.

What this tool is NOT

Not a medical device. hl7online.com does not diagnose, treat, or make clinical decisions. It parses and explains data formats.
Not a substitute for professional judgment. AI responses may contain errors. Always verify critical information against HL7 specifications and your organization's interface documentation.
Not HIPAA-certified infrastructure and not offered under a BAA. The hosted service (Free and Individual tiers) runs on third-party cloud infrastructure that is not covered by a Business Associate Agreement. For real PHI workflows, see the Enterprise self-hosted option described below.

Data policy — synthetic / test / de-identified only

The hosted hl7online.com service (Free and Individual tiers) is intended exclusively for synthetic, test, or de-identified HL7 messages. You agree NOT to paste, upload, or otherwise submit real Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by HIPAA to the hosted service. While raw HL7 messages are parsed client-side and never transmitted to our servers, AI queries do transmit parsed data to our backend, and we do not operate under a BAA.

Examples of permitted content: the built-in synthetic generator output, test messages from your integration engine's QA environment, messages where all identifiers (names, MRNs, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, account numbers) have been replaced with fake values.

AI disclaimer

The AI feature uses a small language model running on local hardware. AI responses are best-effort interpretations, not authoritative HL7 specification references. The AI may:

Misidentify field contents or segment purposes
Give incomplete answers about complex message structures
Occasionally produce incorrect information

Do not rely on AI responses for production interface decisions. Always cross-reference with the HL7 v2.x standard or your integration engine's documentation.

Your account

You must provide a valid email address to create an account
You are responsible for keeping your password secure
One account per person — do not share credentials
We may suspend or ban accounts that abuse the service (excessive automated requests, attempts to bypass rate limits, or disruptive behavior)

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Attempt to bypass rate limits or authentication
Use automated tools to scrape or overload the AI endpoint
Attempt to extract the AI model, reverse-engineer the backend, or probe for vulnerabilities without authorization
Use the service for any purpose that violates applicable law

Rate limits and availability

hl7online.com runs on self-hosted hardware with finite resources. Free accounts have daily AI query limits. We reserve the right to adjust limits, add queuing, or temporarily restrict access to maintain service quality for all users. We do not guarantee uptime.

Billing — Individual subscription

The Individual tier is a paid subscription ($19 USD per month) that provides unlimited AI queries on the hosted service. Subscriptions are processed and managed by Stripe, Inc. VimByte LLC does not store your full payment card details; Stripe is solely responsible for securing payment data under PCI DSS.

Billing cycle. Your subscription renews automatically each month on the anniversary of your signup until you cancel.
Cancel anytime. You can cancel at any time from the "Manage subscription" link inside your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain Individual-tier access until then.
Refunds. Charges are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. If you believe a charge was made in error, email nick.davies@vimbyte.com within 30 days and we will review it in good faith.
Price changes. We may change the subscription price. Material price changes will be communicated by email at least 30 days before taking effect. You can cancel before the change takes effect if you do not agree.
Taxes. Prices shown do not include taxes. Applicable sales tax, VAT, or other taxes may be added at checkout based on your billing location.
Failed payments. If a payment fails, Stripe will retry according to its standard schedule. If all retries fail, your subscription will be canceled and your tier reverts to Free.

The Individual tier does NOT change the data policy above: synthetic, test, or de-identified messages only. Paying for Individual does not permit submitting real PHI to the hosted service.

Intellectual property

hl7online.com is owned by VimByte LLC. The HL7 messages you paste belong to you (or your organization). We claim no ownership of your data. Parsed results and AI responses are provided for your use — we do not restrict how you use the output.

Limitation of liability

hl7online.com is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. VimByte LLC is not liable for any damages arising from your use of this tool, including but not limited to: incorrect AI responses, service downtime, data loss, or decisions made based on parsed output. Use at your own risk.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to your use of hl7online.com will be venued exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Johnson County, Kansas.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated via the email address associated with your account. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
